Crows admin
There are 5 admin tasks you can do.
1: Updating Crows' personal informationEach Crow can edit their own information. But you can do it too. If you can see an "Edit" button/tab then you can edit (and delete).
You might want to do these things for people:
- upload a photo for them.
- put in a new password (though they can request a new password when they try to log in, and it is better for them to do it that way).
- edit their "teaser" personal information, or the main information about them.
- set their time zone
- make them an admin person, like you!
Sometimes there is no edit button (for unfathomable reasons). Using your admin menu, go to the "Website content list" and click on the edit link beside the content you wish to edit.
2: Being 'in charge' of blogs and comments
Crows Feet are hoping that people will comment on shows and performances -- but this opens the website to malicious content in the comments. Your job is to weed that stuff out by "unpublishing" or deleting it.
Each Crow will have a turn at writing the blog -- and they will be able to go back and change what they write (but no-one else's). You, however, can fix any mistakes anyone makes.
You can edit, "unpublish" or delete any content on the website; so be cautious!
Unpublishing is a good first step: the public will not see it, and we can watch if there is a persistent troublesome person who we could block from the website. Once a thing is deleted it is gone, and no record of it anymore.
Tools to delete and hide- See the "Publishing options" : uncheck "Publish" to hide content from the public.
- use the Delete button at the bottom to delete the whole page.
You can create a new user, and put in their information for them.
Choose to have an email sent to them with their password. This will ensure their email address is correct, and open the door for them to create their own, private, password.
Go the new person's profile page (Crows > person's name)
- Choose "roles" and check the "Crows" box, to give them the rights of a Crows Feet member.
- Put in as much 'teaser' information as you can (ask them to fill it out/ finish it)
- upload their photo, if you have one
- set their time zone: choose the time in the list that represents "now", whatever that is.
When you create a "show page" or a "page" you can choose to allow it to "feature on the home page" by choosing "yes". The title, the image and the teaser can appear on the home page.
The (one) most most recent item labelled as "yes" will appear on the home page.
To stop something appearing on the home page, change the setting on that page to "no" (or delete the content).
5: Back up the website database
